Powdercoat | Process
The material will go through a multi stage pre treatment process to prepare the surface for coating. This is the most important stage of the process as any impurities need to be removed to ensure a successful coating. After dressing, a degreasing bath removes dirt, oil, grease, fingerprints etc.
The article is then rinsed twice to ensure that no chemicals are left on the surfaces to be treated and then it is put in an acid bath to etch the surfaces to allow for greater adhesion. The article is then rinsed twice again and put in a conversion coating bath and then it is finally rinsed again to ensure that the surfaces are chemical free. It will then pass through the dry off oven & be ready for powder application.
The material is coated using an electrostatic charged powder. On completion of coating the material enters the curing oven for 20-30 minutes and is cured at 220 degrees C.
