Hot dip galvanizing is a low environmental impact solution. Not only does it extend the life of steel but the byproducts of the process are recycled & re-used in various other industries including agriculture & cosmetics. And when the steel has reached the end of its useful life the zinc can be removed and both the zinc and  the steel can be used again.
