Gordon joined Highland in 2008 after retiring from a career as a professional rugby player. He became Chairman of Highland in January 2016 and splits his time between the facilities in Cumbernauld and Elgin. Gordon gained an MBA from Strathclyde in 2015. Having retired from playing rugby Gordon now enjoys skiing and hill running in his spare time.
Robin became Managing Director of the company in 2017 having spent 15 years in the role of Finance Director. A chartered accountant to trade Robin worked in the manufacturing and financial services sectors before moving North and joining Highland in 2002. Robin enjoys golf and travelling, especially to Italy, in his spare time.
Geoff joined the company in 1995 as Production Manager at our Elgin plant and worked his way up the ranks becoming Managing Director in 2003. In 2017, Geoff switched role becoming Development Director, a move which allows him to concentrate his time on specific projects but also develop a business interest outwith the company. Originally from New Zealand Geoff is a Metallurgical Engineer and has worked in steel making, silicon smelting and alumina refining before entering the galvanizing industry. In addition to his degree in metallurgy, Geoff gained an MBA from Aberdeen in 2004. During his spare time Geoff likes to sail the west coast but with a fair wind has been known to go as far as St Kilda, Ireland and the Orkney Isles.
Bob is the lynchpin of the Elgin production unit, coordinating the manning, scheduling and deliveries of steel to and from the plant. Bob joined the company in 1987 after studying engineering in Aberdeen. In his spare time he can either be found on the golf course, where he plays off scratch, or pedalling the roads with Elgin Cycle Club.
John joined the Cumbernauld production team in 2006 as a graduate management trainee. Having spent time in several positions within the galvanizing and powdercoating divisions John took on the Production Director role in 2014. In 2015, John successfully completed an MBA at Strathclyde after 3 years of study. John is another keen golfer and has also been known to run a sub 40 minute 10K.
Linda has been with the Highland group since 1993, having originally joining our then subsidiary Highland Electroplaters soon after completing a chemistry degree. In 2002 Linda joined the management team in Cumbernauld and has responsibility for IT and Technical projects in addition to Customer Services. Linda added an MBA to her resume in 2009 after from Glasgow Caledonian. In her spare time Linda enjoys travelling with many European cities ticked off so far.
Iain joined Highland in 2002 having graduated from a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Paisley. Iain is based in Elgin but due to the nature of his role is often in Cumbernauld a couple of days a week. Aside from his weekly trips up and down the A9 Iain likes to travel, with the USA being one of his latest destinations.
Graeme is the sales representative for the north of Scotland and is based in Aberdeen. He splits his time between visiting architects, engineers and fabricators which takes him as far afield as Orkney and Shetland.
John is one of Highlands longest serving employees having been with the company since 1985. From his base in Glasgow he covers the south of Scotland and the north of England, visiting and developing relationships with fabricators and engineers.
Julie is based in Cumbernauld.
Neil monitors the processes and standards that are in place to ensure that quality is at the requisite level. Neil is based in Cumbernauld.
Davy is based in Cumbernauld and looks after scheduling and customer communications for powder coating.
Aileen is based in Cumbernauld.
Mhairi is based in Cumbernauld.
Sam is based in Elgin.
Jayne is based in Elgin.
