Directors
Managing Director: Geoff Crowley
Geoff started with the company in 1995, moving from a background in metallurgical processes including steelmaking, silicon smelting and alumina refining in New Zealand, Australia and Iceland. Geoff splits his time between the two sites, but is based most of the time at Cumbernauld. Geoff is a metallurgical engineer and MBA. In his spare time Geoff can often be found sailing on the west coast of Scotland.
Admin & Finance Director (and Deputy MD): Robin Steel
A chartered accountant, Robin is based in Elgin, where the central services of administration and finance are based. Originally from Glasgow, Robin moved north to take control of his team in 2002. He also takes responsibility at Director level for Health and Safety. Robin enjoys golf in his spare time.
Sales and Marketing Director: Paul McCafferty
Paul joined the company in 2007. Originally qualifying as a civil engineer, and subsequently with an MBA, Paul has worked mainly in the building products industry in both sales and senior general management. Paul’s team spend their time providing technical advice to architects, designers and fabricators.
Quality Director: Robert Tait
With an international oil industry background, Robert divides his time between the two plants. He has responsibility to ensure that not only are the company’s ISO9001:2000 qualification systems maintained, but that new systems and procedures work toward delivering what our customers want. Robert spends what time he can pursuing his hobby of flying gliders, where he is a national qualified pilot instructor.
Production Director, Elgin: Bob Sheils
Bob drives the Elgin production unit, coordinating daily deliveries of steel into and out of Elgin destined for all over Scotland. Bob joined the company in 1987 after studying in Aberdeen and qualifying in engineering. Bob is scratch golfer and spends some of his spare time competing in local amateur competitions.
Customer Services Director: Linda Reed
Linda joined our then subsidiary, Highland Electroplaters immediately after obtaining her degree in Chemistry, and has been with the group since. Recently completing a Company sponsored MBA, she is responsible for the complex task of customer service out of Cumbernauld. Linda enjoys travel, and has seen most of Europe.
Sales team
John Lyons
John joined the team as a sales representative in 1986, having been in sales in steel for some time before that. John is a keen golfer, with a life long ambition to beat Bob Sheils.
Graeme Morrison
Based in Aberdeen, Graeme covers the most scenic parts of Scotland from Shetland to Perth. His background in welding supplies before joining Highland in 1999 enables him to know just what fabricators want, but he also knows most architects in northern Scotland on a first name basis. Graeme spends what little spare time he has assisting in his wife’s B&B Business.
Craig Summers
Craig supports the sales team mostly from our Cumbernauld plant, but also in specifier technical support. With a background in contruction related specification sales, Craig is well familiar with the construction supply chain.
